Description

Hacienda El Botón is a 200 hectare farm run for three generations by the Herrán family. In 1931, a special Arabica variety - Maragogype - was planted on the plantation for the first time. This exotic variety is characterized by much larger trees, which produces exceptionally large fruit. We can safely say about the Maragogype variety that it is characterized by its exquisite aroma and balanced taste. Roasting this coffee is a real pleasure for every roaster. Beautiful, large grains please not only the eye, the aroma contained in them is a real feast for the palate.

Hacienda El Botón is located at an altitude of 1350 m a.s.l., annual rainfall is about 2400 mm. Adequate moisture and mineral-rich soil are excellent conditions for growing the Maragogype variety, which requires more experience of growers and special conditions for growth. One of the most important factors is the right amount of shade, which means ensuring the right temperature for growing trees. Growers of El Botón put quality beans first, which is why they decided to produce less coffee to maintain the highest standards. Ripe fruits are picked by hand, then dried and selected.

For the sake of the environment, the hacienda also cares for insects and birds living in the plantation. In addition, they run a nursery with coffee trees, which after reaching the right size become cultivated trees. Thus, they ensure us of the highest quality of their product. The obtained Rainforest certificate is proof that the plantation is environmentally friendly.

Coffee harvests start in September and last until January. Harvested cherries go to the mill located in the plantation, where the pericarp is separated from the grains. Then the coffee is subjected to fermentation. The next process is washing, classification and drying. The drying process takes place with special equipment to avoid additional uncontrolled processes.

Coffee Colombia Maragogype Hacienda El Botón is an offer for the most demanding coffee lovers. The beans with a beautiful dark brown color conceal the aromas of dark chocolate, walnuts, blackberries, black currant and banana peel. Coffee has a velvety taste, caramel body remains on the tongue. Coffee has a bitter profile, but thanks to the fruity accents, the aroma remains pleasantly sweet and sour. The maragogype variety has a higher caffeine content. Coffee Colombia Maragogype Hacienda El Botón we recommend both for a coffee machine or coffee maker will be characterized by greater bitterness and more classic taste. Alternative methods will strengthen the fruit notes.
