Żubrówka (also known in English as Bison Vodka and Bison Grass Vodka or in German Grasovka ) - flavored Polish distilled vodka based on rye.
Rye rectified spirit is mixed with a decoction of turówka wonna ( Hierochloe odorata ), a species of grass commonly known as Żubrówka , growing in forests of the Białowieża Forest. Thanks to it, vodka acquires a special taste, aroma and yellowish color. Each original Żubrówka bottle contains one blade of this plant.

Thanks to it, vodka acquires a special taste, aroma and yellowish color. Each original bottle of Żubrówka contains one blade of this plant.

The beginnings of Żubrówka production in Poland date back to the 17th century, and already in the 18th century it became one of the favorite liquors of the Polish nobility. In 1926, Polmos developed a method of mass production of Żubrówka, the trademark of which was later registered and is still its owner and producer of vodka. Outside Poland, Żubrówka is produced in many other countries under various names, including in Russia ( Зубровка ), the United States ( Wisent Vodka ), Ukraine ( Zubrivka ), Belarus and the Czech Republic.

< p> Żubrówka is usually served individually, chilled or in the form of a drink mixed with apple juice.
