Description

Congo Coopade Kivu is one of the most interesting coffees that you can find in our offer. The country lying in the heart of the continent, thanks to the diversity of the area, allows the cultivation of high-quality coffee. Our coffee comes from the Kivu region - the northern part of the plateau. On the one hand, the plantations are surrounded by the Kyondo mountains, thanks to which the temperature is maintained at an appropriate level. On the other hand, the vicinity of Lake Kivu provides adequate hydration and extremely fertile soil. Plantations are located at an altitude of 1500 m a.s.l. Arabica with Congo is a washed coffee, varietal is mainly Bourbon, with a small admixture of Marogogype and Cataui.

Coffee is grown on the Coopade plantation (Coopérative Paysanne de Développement). Coopade's mission is to fight poverty and unemployment in the Kivu region. The cooperative has over 2,100 members, of which almost 40% are women. The cooperative's activity supports residents not only by providing them with employment and security - prevailing conflicts within the state, but also supports educational development - 40% of the residents are illiterate, only 15% have a secondary education. Agronomists educated thanks to the cooperative's activity help organize plantations to increase productivity and obtain the highest quality beans.

Kongo Coopade Kivu coffee is organic coffee with UTZ certification. The certificate is awarded to products from sustainable crops, where economic profit goes in line with high ethical and ecological standards.

Arabica Kongo Coopade Kivu is a coffee with an unusual aroma and taste. The grain smells of a delicate wine-caramel note. Immediately after grinding, a fruity note appears - lemon peel and pink grapefruit. After brewing, we can feel the hazelnut, which adds a slightly dry character and deeper body. The fruity-caramel composition will delight fans of both classic brewing methods and all fans of alternative methods. It is worth trying Congo beans not only because of their taste, but also because of its difficult availability.
